洪水1カ月、依然80万人孤立＝南部の被害甚大―パキスタン

【ニューデリー時事】パキスタンが建国史上最悪の大洪水に見舞われてから1カ月が経過した。被災者は政府統計で国民の約10分の1に当たる1720万人に拡大。水は29日までに当初被害を受けた北部を中心に引き始めたが、国連によれば、依然として80万人が空からの救援しか方法がない孤立状態にある。援助物資の輸送態勢も不十分で、被災者のいら立ちは日増しに募っている。
この間、国際社会の支援で援助物資の供給は一定程度進んだ。世界食糧計画（WFP）はこれまでに175万人に食料が届いたと説明。今後も1日15万人のペースで供給を拡大する意向だ。
だが、国を縦断するインダス川のはんらんで洪水は南部にも拡大。約80万平方キロの国土の5分の1が被災したとされ、これは日本の面積の4割に相当する。国連は27日、過去2日間に南部シンド州で100万人が避難したと明らかにした。インダス川に近い同州タッタは同日夜に堤防が決壊して大量の水が流入、多数が避難した。
地元メディアによれば、東部パンジャブ州では水が引いた地域で避難民の帰還も始まった。しかし、被災者の大多数はまだキャンプでの生活を余儀なくされている。

More monsoon rains and floods will worsen roads already badly damaged and impassable…. I’ve seen bridge after bridge washed away.
