VCIC（Venture Capital Investment Competition）のヨーロッパ大会で、マンチェスタービジネススクールが見事優勝しました！（以下のオフィシャルサイトをご覧下さい。）

マンチェスタービジネススクールとしては、Class of 2008のぼくらが初参加し、その翌年である今年の大会で早くもヨーロッパ大会で優勝です。このまま、アメリカの各地域の優勝チームと共に戦うインターナショナルファイナルでもぜひ優勝して欲しいですね。
VCICに関しては、ぼくらが参加した時にかなり時間を使って準備したものの、なかなか具体的なイメージがつかめず、残念ながらインターナショナルファイナルに進むことはできませんでした。しかし、その経験からClass of 2009のチームに少しでもぼくらの経験を活かしてもらおうと、昨年の11月に内部で本格的な予選を行った（例えば、以下のエントリをご覧下さい）わけですが、その成果が着実にあらわれたのでうれしいです。

もちろん、Class of 2009の参加メンバーの努力の賜物ですが、少しでもお手伝いすることができてよかったです。VCICで強い学校ということになると、ベンチャーキャピタルやPEなんかからの就職案内が増えるかもしれませんね。
それはともかく、これはいいニュースです。インターナショナルファイナルでも優勝できるといいですね。

MBS wins European final of Venture Capital Investment Competition
Manchester Business School has won the European final of the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC).
It saw off fierce competition from some of Europe’s leading business schools to secure a place at the VCIC global final – taking place at Kenan-Flagler Business School (University of North Carolina) in April.
The MBS team – Adrian Pinder, Ian Beswick, Ganesh Mallya, Graham Davies and Tim Critchley – all from the Class of 2009, took part in the final which took place at London Business School. This is only the second time MBS has entered this competition, and the first time the School has won the European final.
The VCIC involves the team taking on the role of venture capital investors and deciding whether to invest in entrepreneurial projects.
The team then goes through the entire venture capital investment process in an extremely condensed time period. Each team:
- reads real business plans from entrepreneurs currently seeking venture capital funding
- watches entrepreneurs “road-show” pitches
- sits down one-on-one with each entrepreneur
- chooses a deal (or multiple deals)
- creates an executive summary, term sheet summaries and PowerPoint presentation
- presents to and fields questions from a panel of venture capitalists
