こちらに来てからの演劇第2弾です。ブラッドブラザーズを観てきました。
劇場は以前パントマイムを観に行った時と同じオペラハウスでした。
前半は悲しいところもあるものの、比較的明るい雰囲気でよかったのですが、後半は一気に悲しい雰囲気一色になりました。そして、となりに座っていたクラスメイトのイギリス人も号泣。よく見ると、ほとんどの人が泣いていました。
大まかな筋はわかるものの、細かいところまではどうもつかみきれず、置いてきぼりにされた感がありました。それから所々に入っているイングリッシュジョークもです。こればかりはいかんともしがたいですね。
でも、おもしろかったです。大まかなストーリーわかりやすいので、演劇としてはオススメかもしれません。

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving story of twin boys separated at birth, only to be re-united by a twist of fate and a mother’s haunting secret. When Mrs Johnstone (Linda Nolan), a young mother, is deserted by her husband and left to her own devices to provide for seven hungry children she takes a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet. It is not long before her brittle world crashes around her when she discovers herself to be pregnant yet again – this time with twins! In a moment of weakness and desperation, she enters a secret pact with her employer, which leads inexorably to the show’s shattering climax. A sensational cast, incredible show-stopping music, remarkable staging and five star performances make Blood Brothers an enthralling night of entertainment. The production stars Linda Nolan (from the group, The Nolans). Linda joined the West End Company of Blood Brothers in 2001, following a 12 month tour. After two years at the Phoenix Theatre, she is very happy for the opportunity to see the rest of the country again.
